Trans Lyft Lifting Technology install lift at Windsor
Lifting Technology

The team from Trans Lyft Lifting Technology have installed a goods lift in Cumberland Lodge, a beautiful listed building in the heart of Windsor Great Park that was once occupied by The Queen Mother.

Lifting Technology
Today, the building is used for hospitality and conference events, and the lift is needed to take goods from ground level to a basement.
Lifting Technology
The challenge for Lifting Technology was producing a lift that was sympathetic to the existing structure and environment, and which met health and safety requirements. Lifting Technology’s Head of Design Mike Greenland created a solution using a Perspex backing plate that showcased the ornate guarding on the upper level that perfectly complemented the period architecture. The lift is ‘safe by position’ with interlocked gates at the top and on the lift platform and has a capacity of 1000Kg.
Lifting Technology
George Scholes, Managing Director of Trans Lyft Lifting Technology commented that ‘This is yet another example of our flexibility with our bespoke solutions. Mike Greenland, our senior design engineer worked closely with the project architects to produce a unique and appropriate solution’

How Trans Lyft Lifting Technology got a big lift through a small door at Asda
Lifting Technology

Trans Lyft Lifting Technology, in partnership with Radius Crane management, has successfully installed a 12 ton, 10 metre wide scissor lift inside a store in Pudsey, Yorkshire for Asda despite the fact that doors into the building have a head clearance less than 5 metres high.

Lifting Technology
How did they do it?
Lifting Technology
First, the main part of the lift was unloaded by crane into the yard. It was then placed on skates and wheeled over sleepers into the building with the help of a Versa-Lift fork lift. Once inside, it was moved using a seesaw action, changing the pivot point each time to lower the 24 ton capacity lift slowly into position in the pit base.
Lifting Technology
The lift’s side wings were installed in the same way. Then Lifting Technology’s experienced engineers fitted the safety trip bar edge, wired and commissioned the lift, and completed final testing before handing the lift over to Asda.
Lifting Technology
All this took just 3 days.
Lifting Technology
Managing Director George Scholes commented ‘Trans Lyft Lifting Technology has the expertise and experience to deal with the most challenging of installations, in all types of environments, whether a retail store situation like this, or in a listed building’.

Mike Fryer of Radius Crane added ‘The team did an outstanding job of installation in very difficult circumstances’

Trans Lyft Lifting Technology is currently installing a 2 ton scissor lift at the Christie Hospital in Manchester as part of a major re-furbishment programme being undertaken there. Christie is one of Europe’s leading cancer centres receiving over 12,500 new patients every year and treating around 40,000 in the North West.

Dean Burrows of Platform Lift Solutions, who were the main contractor, commented on the patient lift saying ‘The Lift looks excellent. I think the quality of this installation will certainly benefit us in the future’.

Thankfully, no one at Comet’s new distribution centre in Skelmersdale lifts such heavy appliances. Instead, Lifting Technology was asked to design and build 16 Translyft double decker scissor lifts to do the job for them. Each lift can hold over 6 cubic metres in volume, meaning that together, all 16 can lift the equivalent of 1024 microwaves, 256 washing machines, or 128 fridge freezers.
Lifting Technology
As Skelmersdale is one of Comet’s biggest and busiest distribution centres in the UK, loading and unloading goods as efficiently as possible is vital. Lifting Technology worked in partnership with other contractors to provide scissor lift tables that can load and unload from double deck trailers in one rotation. Extra features such as bridging plates, and barriers fitted with sensors to keep the lift secure have also been included. These small details ensure that docking is completed with maximum efficiency and safety.

For such a large and complex development, it was important that staff at Lifting Technology were involved from the outset. George Scholes, commented ‘we get involved right from the planning stages of projects. We then talk to manufacturing and submit the designs we need and the lift tables are constructed specifically for the specified application’.
Lifting Technology
‘Our expertise and experience in the design, installation and maintenance of quality lifting solutions has been recognized by Comet. They were so impressed with the finished lifts that we are now been asked to work on similar solutions at other sites.
Lifting Technology
Graeme Garside, Operations Manager at the Skelmersdale Comet Warehouse said, “ Partnering with Trans Lyft Lifting Technology helped improve operating efficiencies and meet all our safety requirments. Overall, they provided a first class design and installation service and continue to service and repair all our Loading Bay equipment. Their fast turnaround minimises downtime in our operation, particularly at peak times

In an environment where designing with DDA in mind is crucial, Lifting Technology has moved into new territory with the production of its first bespoke DDA lift for business. The new product demonstrates how a bespoke solution provides a practical solution for commercial, private and public sector projects.
Lifting Technology
The process: New designers were appointed first. Their extensive DDA experience was combined with the expertise gained by us in the design and installation of bespoke solutions using Trans Lyft scissor lifts. The result is a quality product that works. It complements the modern commercial environment it was designed for perfectly, yet is as robust as the large double-decker lifts we installed for the retail giants like Ikea, Comet and Asda.

Because Lifting Technology can create DDA lifts using either standard, or completely bespoke designs, it’s easy to fit them within existing building structures. Modern materials like stainless steel and glass are used, and the lift platform can be tailored to match the flooring throughout the rest of the building.
Lifting Technology
Talking about this new DDA service George Scholes says ‘We were delighted to be given the challenge and have demonstrated once again that Lifting Technology has the expertise and experience to provide a bespoke quality solution and first class technology for DDA access projects of all kinds’.

Translyft Supply Galvanised Loading Bay Lifts for Welsh Dairies
Translyft have recently designed and installed two six tonne capacity loading bay lifts for moving cages of milk and cream from fridge floor level onto delivery vehicles. The design incorporates hydraulic bridge plates, interlocked barrier arms and side hand rails.
All of the exposed surfaces of the lift have been finished in hot dip galvanising to withstand the rigours of temperature and daily washdown. The lifts are interlocked to the fridge doors to prevent operation until the vehicles are docked and ready for loading.
